GreenSpirit is a network of people who celebrate the human spirit in the context of our place in the natural world and Earth’s own evolutionary journey. Our radical vision brings together the rigour of science, the creativity of artistic expression, the passion of social action and the wisdom of spiritual traditions of all ages. Attracting those of many faith traditions, we are a body of people who believe that human life has both an ecological and a spiritual dimension.
The GreenSpirit lifestyle, therefore, is a lifestyle in which every aspect of a person’s way of living is brought into harmony with these principles. Not only are our celebrations and rituals rooted in a love of the Earth and a feeling of deep connectedness with all life forms but we live each day in awareness of our responsibility to dwell as lightly as possible on the Earth. This affects everything we do, such as what we eat, what we wear, how we travel, where we shop and what we buy, how we vote, what we teach our children and how we make all the moment-by-moment decisions in our waking lives. As Thomas Berry describes, in his beautiful essay about the Meadow Across the Creek we have a simple litmus test for every choice we make: which of these options is best for the Earth?
There is, of course, no limit to the resources that could be listed in this section but the intention here is simply to share some of the writing of GreenSpirit members and friends under the following headings:
